Ferrari 499P Modificata Auction Brings Unrestricted Le Mans Power to a Select Few

Ferrari built the 499P Modificata so a handful of its best customers could drive something that shares almost every important piece of engineering with the prototype that took overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Chassis number 21, finished in its original red livery, has never turned a wheel beyond the factory shakedown runs that confirmed everything worked. Gooding Christie’s is offering it on November 8 in Geneva with an estimate in excess of CHF 7,500,000 ($9.2 million), the first time any Modificata has reached a public sale.

The power comes from a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter V6, which has the same basic layout as the road-going 296, and a 272PS electric motor powers the front axle. Typically, the entire setup produces roughly 707PS. But when you press the Push to Pass button at full throttle, another 163PS kicks in for up to seven seconds, bringing the total to 870PS. Suspension, electronics, and engine maps were all rewritten so the car no longer has to live inside the Balance of Performance rules that govern the World Endurance Championship. The most obvious result is that the front electric motor can push at any speed rather than only above 190 km/h, which is the limit the race cars must observe.

Dallara designed the chassis, while Ferrari’s style team, led by Flavio Manzoni, created the body. It still looks and feels like the same prototype that ended Ferrari’s 58-year wait for another Le Mans victory, and then repeated the feat twice more. Pirelli created a bespoke set of tires utilizing a compound developed in cooperation with their Formula One program, which is a step up from the Michelins they typically use. Everything in the cockpit is identical to the racing version, so if you’ve ever sat in a 499P, you’ll recognize it immediately.

As the owner, you are eligible for Ferrari’s Sport Prototipi Clienti program. Unless you make alternative arrangements, the car will remain at Maranello until December 28. Ferrari will manage all maintenance, logistics, and trackside support during special events that run alongside their F1 Clienti and XX programs for the duration of the car’s stay. The true draw, however, is that the car is a pristine machine that has never been raced, registered for the road, or faced the constraints that come with being a competition car. It still maintains the direct engineering lineage from those three consecutive Le Mans victories, which appeals to collectors and is why it’s being offered for sale in Geneva.
