England squad announcement live: Thomas Tuchel names players for Croatia and Spain in Nations League

This was Tuchel’s September squad, although several players later withdrew through injury or high workloads, including Palmer and Declan Rice.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, James Trafford, Jason Steele

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tino Livramento, Jarrad Branthwaite, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah, Lewis Hall, Nico O’Reilly

Midfielders: Elliott Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Alex Scott

Forwards: Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon, Rio Ngumoha, Marcus Rashford, Morgan Rogers, Bukayo Saka

Perhaps the biggest question mark over this squad is what Thomas Tuchel does with Cole Palmer. The manager was critical of Palmer’s absence from the September internationals, saying Chelsea’s No 10 “misses too many camps”. Palmer hasn’t exactly sparkled for Chelsea in the intervening weeks, so will he earn another call-up from the manager or will he be left out, as he was this summer for the World Cup?
