A man was filmed collapsing in the street outside an Australian pub after allegedly being served 19 beers plus some spirits shots by staff who ignored warning signs he was too drunk

An Australian couple have lost their pub licence after letting one customer down 40 alcoholic drinks before collapsing.
Bar staff are expected to start asking questions long before someone gets to drink number 20, but authorities say this wasn’t the case at the New South Wales establishment. Regulators discovered staff at the Gladstone Hotel in Stockton allegedly failed to intervene during two separate mammoth drinking sessions which involved the same customer.
According to AFP, the most serious incident occurred on March 23, 2024. The bloke strolled into the pub after midday and left around five hours later. By the time he got out of the establishment, he’d reportedly seen off 19 beers, a tequila and a Cointreau.

Witnesses described seeing the customer “stumbling into furniture” and becoming “overly friendly with other patrons” as the afternoon wore on.
CCTV footage released by the NSW hospitality and tourism department depicted the man collapsing in the street outside the pub after exiting, before a good Samaritan stepped in to assist him. He was subsequently helped into a car.
Despite the clear warning signs, regulators discovered that bar manager Mark Keegan continued serving the customer, even bringing over another pint before the previous one had been finished.

Dimitri Argeres, Liquor and Gaming NSW executive director of regulatory operations, stated: “This patron displayed multiple signs of intoxication that should have been identified and acted upon by staff well before the patron reached such a dangerous state.”
Keegan has insisted that the customer seemed fine throughout the afternoon, maintaining that the only sign he’d noticed was a ‘slight stumble’.
Incredibly, it wasn’t the first time the same drinker had caused problems for the pub.
Earlier in 2024, Keegan’s wife was barred from managing the venue after the very same customer was served another 22 beers and a shot during a separate visit.
