A new study has seemingly uncovered more than 20 unidentified objects in and around the moon which, according to one team of big brains, could point to life outside of Planet Earth
Space boffins studying the moon say they have recorded evidenced that points to a technologically advanced civilisation of non-human beings. Or, in other words, alien life. Scientists at Ukraine’s Main Astronomical Observatory have reported seeing more than 20 unidentified objects in and around the moon across a period of several months in 2025. The disc-shaped objects varied in size, with some being absolutely massive; with estimated measurements of 15 and 25 miles across. The study – which, to be fair, has not been peer-reviewed – says the team of brains identified two separate categories of the unidentified disc-shaped objects: ‘atmospheric’ ones that seemed to be stationary and ‘continental’ objects that appeared to move across the lunar surface. Those labelled ‘atmospheric’ appeared to remain locked in place as they moved in line with the moon’s rotation, suggesting they were structures anchored to the lunar surface, the study reads.
They appeared to display unusual changes in brightness and rotations, with researchers concluding that the patterns observed may indicate structured behaviours or the presence of advanced technologies. They also raised the possibility that the objects originated from a hidden base on the moon. The team said in their study that the UFOs had been observed “in near-Earth space. We believe that the moon serves as a base for UFOs.”
Researchers recorded the main group of more than 20 unidentified objects across the moon’s surface during two observation periods on the same day: September 7, 2025, with the two observation periods occurring at 7.05pm and 7.27pm ET. Another detection of additional ring-shaped objects came on August 16, 2025, at 2.52am ET.Sightings on both days were observed and recorded using a high-speed camera attached to a telescope in Vinarivka, near the Ukraine capital of Kyiv. The high-speed camera was able to snap an eye-watering 20 images per second, allowing the space boffins to track objects that would have been moving too fast for the naked eye to see.
While the UFOs caught on camera were so faint that some looked little more than a two-by-two-pixel speck against the moon, researchers say they were not behaving randomly. The objects emitted rapid flashes lasting between one-tenth and half a second, as per the study, with researches describing their brightness rising and falling in repeating patterns in a ‘pulsing’ motion. The study also claims that objects that appeared to be hundreds of miles apart seemed to flash in unison. The pulsing also rose and fell at repeating frequencies, which the Ukrainian team isolated from atmospheric interference and telescope-tracking errors using specialised filtering software.Researchers said the link was statistically significant, although the finding does not prove that the objects were communicating or controlled by intelligent beings.
A separate observation on August 16, 2025 revealed a fresh anomaly, even stranger than the shapes observed in the weeks prior. A number of enormous ring-shaped objects appeared against the daytime sky. The shapes were barely visible until scientists enhanced the footage with false colours. The team of big brains claim the objects did not appear to emit light at all, and instead absorbed nearly all the radiation that was hitting them. The objects were huge – an estimated 22 miles across – and seemed to complete a full rotation every three minutes while reaching speeds of 6.8 miles per second.Based on their size and rotation, the Ukrainian researchers calculated that the strange sky rings must be able to generate centrifugal force more than double the Earth’s own gravity. Thus, they hypothesised the strange objects were therefore producing their own artificial gravity. The Ukrainian brains claim the objects could therefore reach Earth within 20 minutes or so of travel time. They also argued that the objects’ apparently intelligent behaviour may point to the existence of a “technologically advanced civilisation” that seems to be aware of our planet and our moon.
While the space boffins reckon what they observed were likely nonhuman spacecraft, there is no solid scientific evidence that proves intelligent alien life exists, or proves there are any artificial structures on the moon. While NASA and the US government have been unable to explain some supposed UFO sightings, there has never been any confirmation of any sighting involving actual extraterrestrial technology. For this latest research out of Ukraine to stack up, one must assume the faint shapes spotted near the moon were genuine objects rather than atmospheric distortions, glitches, or errors introduced during the processing of images snapped at high speeds. As an additional caveat, the study has not been peer-reviewed. Therefore, its giant, technologically advanced craft have not been independently confirmed. Or denied.
