Chelsea star Joao Pedro was one of three stars to miss part of the club’s training session today ahead of their Premier League clash clash with Brentford on Friday.

The Brazil international has started the season in sensational form with three goals in five appearances, also laying on three assists.

He came to Chelsea’s rescue on Saturday afternoon with a late equaliser at home to Hull City.

The Blues are back in action on Friday night with a tricky assignment away to Brentford, hoping to return to winning ways against Keith Andrews’ side.

Sky Sports News had access to the first part of Chelsea’s training session on Tuesday with Pedro not part of the group.

Reece James and Moises Caicedo were also absent.

Marco Palestra and Dean Henderson were involved however with the two summer signings closing in on their debuts for the club.

James has played the full 90 minutes in three of Chelsea’s four league games in a central midfield role, coming through unscathed again against Hull at the weekend.

Caicedo meanwhile is still to start a game this term.

However, the midfielder lasted just 14 minutes as a sub before a recurrence of his injury saw the Ecuador international brought back off in the 4-3 win at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old missed the subsequent games against Arsenal and Leeds but speaking last week, Alonso was hopeful he would be fit for the short trip to the GTech Stadium.

‘Not yet, we’ll see for Brentford,’ the Chelsea boss said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Hull game.

‘We’re not at a moment to take risks with him. Not yet; we are not yet.’
