Horror scenes were witnessed at a busy multi-storey car park in Japan after a car, reportedly at speed’ went through a safety wall and plummeted from the third floor
A man has tragically been killed with his wife suffering serious injuries after a car fell from the third floor of a multi-storey car park in Japan.
The vehicle reportedly smashed through a safety wall and landed on its roof as it crashed down to the ground followed by debris.
The tragic accident occurred at a car park in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, earlier today (August 6) which is reportedly close to a commercial facility.
According to reports from Japanese news outlet FNN, police believe that the driver may have accidently accelerated as he went down a ramp in the car park.
The speed and momentum of going down the ramp caused the out of control car to smash through the wall.
A huge amount of debris surrounded the car but thankfully no one was directly below when the horror scenes unfolded.
However, the passenger had to be rushed to hospital after both suffered serious injuries. According to reports, the occupants of the vehicle were husband and wife.
The driver of the car, a 77-year-old male, has tragically since died from his injuries. His 76-year-old wife remains in hospital after suffering serious injuries, including a fractured hip. The wife was in the passenger seat of the car when the incident occurred.
Police are continuing to investigative the crash but it is early reports suggest they believe it to be a tragic accident.
