Revellers at seven of this summer’s big events, music fans can use a free workaround from Vodafone that alleviates the risk of losing comms when they most need it
MUSIC fans heading to this summer’s biggest festivals can avoid the nightmare of having no phone signal by getting free calls and data from Vodafone.
One of the biggest bugbears at festivals and sporting events is losing mobile signal – leading to fans being separated from friends, unable to check important apps or call home.
But at seven of this summer’s big events, music fans can use a free workaround from Vodafone that alleviates the risk of losing comms when they most need it.
Fans who spot a special QR code on festival grounds will be able to join Vodafone’s award-winning network for the next seven days. With zero commitments or strings attached, non customers can access Vodafone’s network completely free, and get 50GB of data, 500 minutes and 500 texts.
Vodafone is official connectivity partner or a major sponsor at seven upcoming music events, where the telecoms giant promises to keep fans ‘connected’.
The festivals include:
▪ Reading and Leeds
▪ Latitude (Suffolk)
▪ Camp Bestival (Dorset)
▪ Wilderness (Oxfordshire)
▪ Kendal Calling (Cumbria)
▪ Boardmasters (Cornwall)
Vodafone already deployed its free trial to Download Festival in June where rock music fans had the opportunity to join The Nation’s Network while rocking out to Guns N’ Roses and Limp Bizkit.
Once the QR code is scanned, an eSIM can then be installed using the My Vodafone app. All fans need to try the network for free is an eSIM compatible smartphone.
Fans can join the trial without changing their existing number or swapping their SIM card – and can easily switch between Vodafone’s network and their current provider using their device settings.
A Vodafone spokesman said: “As The Nation’s Network, we want to connect the nation to the people and the things they love, and bringing our network trial to even more festivals is just one way we are doing this.
“We know that historically, reliable connectivity at festivals has been a pain point for festival goers.
“Our network trial will offer non-Vodafone customers the chance to trial our network if they can’t connect to their own provider and allow them to enjoy the festival and not worry about staying connected.”
Vodafone prides itself on delivering the best network experience for businesses and customers at some of the UK’s most memorable events throughout the year.
Vodafone has a long heritage in serving the nation since the very first mobile phone call was made via its network in 1984.
Today, it offers coverage to 99% of UK households and is the network of choice for 82% of the country’s emergency services.
