Sony has put together a fresh set of DualSense controllers and matching PlayStation 5 console covers that let you see parts of the hardware underneath a glossy outer shell. The Prism Collection arrives in three colors and treats the transparent look that showed up on electronics in the late 1990s as something worth bringing back for current hardware rather than leaving it in the past. Pre-orders open on November 10, 2026, with the full lineup shipping on February 4, 2027.
Each DualSense features a high-gloss clear coating that sweeps around the back of the controller, but with a twist. Rather than a bland glassy finish, this surface allows you to see the internal components in all their glory, including the electronics and structural pieces, but the front of the controller remains unchanged. The plastic wraps almost entirely around the entire body, allowing you to see the tech that powers the triggers, motors, and battery, but the controller feels and operates exactly the same in your hand as one created with traditional opaque materials. Console covers from the same series take a more limited view, displaying only the fan and a few surrounding components, and add a splash of metallic finish to the middle panel, which looks rather cool against the surrounding surfaces.

Flare Orange follows the bright approach, but when the clear layers overlay, the tone shifts to a softer rose shade. Emerald Green opts for something a little darker, but the transparency provides a variety of colors that keep the overall design from appearing flat. Graphite Gray maintains a cool, single-tone appearance while displaying the hardware beneath without jarring color clashes. The best part is that all three variants have the same glossy outer texture and are priced similarly to many other DualSense controllers and covers in the US: $84.99 each controller and $74.99 per set of covers.

The designers on Sony’s color and materials team wanted to give the old translucent style a makeover so it matched in with the angular shape of the PS5, rather than merely replicating the older models. Leo Cardoso stated that fans had asked for the return of see-through controllers, and his team intended to create a version that matched the appearance of the current console. Satoshi Aoyagi noted that the DualSense’s glass back section performs an excellent job of keeping the whole device appearing neat and tidy while still allowing you to view the parts within, and he believes the three colors they chose were chosen based on their method of working with the transparent material.

Things will go live on the Playstation website/store in the United States, United Kingdom, and a number of European nations, with partner retailers also accepting pre-orders beginning at 7 a.m. Pacific time on November 10. Console covers are primarily available through direct Playstation sales, however they may be available in limited quantities at a few other places in the future. However, the collection retains all of the characteristics of the original DualSense, so you can simply switch it in with your existing console when it arrives in February, with no need for software upgrades or anything.
